July 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, who has remained behind in Uganda even after attending a face-to-face meeting on Saturday with the country’s prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, today returned secretly to the Ugandan State House in Entebbe to meet his Ugandan counterpart, President Museveni, to discuss the objection by many South Sudanese opposition groups to the Entebbe proposal, sources told the Nyamilepedia from Kampala today.
The meeting, one source said, focussed mainly on the rejection by the many South Sudanese armed and non-armed opposition groups of the power sharing proposal presented by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al-Bashir on Saturday.
“President Kiir went to the state house in Entebbe this morning and met President Museveni.the meeting was top confidential and it only discussed the rejection of the Ugandan proposal by Riek Machar’s group, former detainees and the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA),” the source told the Nyamilepedia.
Another source said the South Sudanese leader, whose term expired in 2015 is expected to return to the country this evening, after having been reassured by the Ugandan President of his support and that of his people.
“Kiir will return to Juba today. He has been assured by President Museveni of his support and the support of his people,” the other source said.
The Nyamilepedia has learned that President Kiir met the Ugandan leader today in Entebbe after the Ugandan Presidency said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia that a meeting between Kiir and Museveni in which the former thanked the Ugandan leader for hosting the Saturday meeting between him and the opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar.
“During the meeting that took place this morning (Monday), President Museveni and his guest (President Kiir) discussed areas of mutual interest between South Sudan and Uganda,” teh statement of the Ugandan Presidency partl read.
The statement, however, only mentioned that President Kiir thanked his Ugandan counterpart for facilitating the Saturday talks which he calls a “tripartite summit”.
“President Kiir thanked President Museveni for facilitating the tripartite summit that took place on Saturday at State House Entebbe that was geared towards finding peace in South Sudan,” further said the statement.
