December 26,2021— The rival forces of SPLA-IO under the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny and former Chief of Staff of SPLA-IO, 1st. Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual have clashed again this morning in Magenis.
According to the spokesman of Magenis faction, Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath and Press Secretary in the office of the Chairman of Magenis faction, Kalany Mamuon, the new fighting began at around 5am this morning when forces loyal to Machar attacked their positions.

“Riek Machar forces who attempt to attack Magenis this morning are chase in disarray,they are now in hot pursue.” Kalany Mamuon, the press secretary to Gen. Gatwech Dual said.
The new clashes between rival SPLA-IO forces came just a few days after similar fightin in Nasir county left at least one person dead and two others injured.
According to the information received by Nyamilepedia, Duol Kun Thien, the Nasir County commissioner said the fight erupted when his guards were waylaid by the forces loyal to Kit-Gwang Declaration under the senior opposition commander Gen. Gatwech Dual while patrolling the Kier area on Sunday morning.
“I was there to settle a dispute involving people from my county and Lou Nuer in Kier area of Wanga-Ading Payam when our forces were attacked,” he said.
“The Kit-Gwang was defeated and one person was killed from their side.”, Kuon added.
In his part, the spokesperson for the SPLA-IO’s third infantry division, Khor Nyang Mabor condemned the attack and said the situation in county has returned to normalcy despite the incident.
“The Kit-Gwang forces were pushed out from Kier so the area is now calm. They lost one officer and two others were injured,” Mabor confirmed.
Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng, the Kit-Gwang military spokesperson, admitted clashes erupted over the weekend and claimed that their forces are in full control of the area.
“The clashes erupted at 7 am when our forces were attacked by SPLA-IO forces who came from Akobo and Nasir”, Deng said
According to senior opposition military spokesman, their forces managed to disperse SPLA-IO forces in disarray, adding that they are now under control of the area.
