June 28th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, and prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, have signed, just moments ago, a permanent ceasefire agreement in the Sudanese capital Khartoum in a talk hosted under the auspices of the Sudanese President Field Marshaal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir, sources attached to the new development told the Nyamilepedia from the Sudanese capital today.

The ceasefire agreement, sources said, is expected to come into force within 72 hours starting from Wednesday afternoon and the rival forces are also expected to confine in their current positions.

“The ceasefire agreement has been signed by the two principals, Dr. Riek Machar and Salva Kiir Mayardiit. The ceasefire will come into force within 72 hours,” the source said.

Pouk Both Baluang, the director of information of the main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO confirmed to the Nyamilepedia the new development and said the two leaders are expected to instruct their forces to halt fighting and confine to their current bases.
