Nov 24, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– Another close associate of the former chief of general staff of the SPLA, Lt. Gen. Paul Malong Awan, was shot dead last evening in the capital, Juba.

Bol Deng Miyen, a South Sudanese national from the contested region of Abyei, was shot dead by “unknown gunmen” around 6pm last evening, Nov 24th, 2017.

According to relatives, late Miyen received a phone call to go and meet a group of newly released bodyguards of Gen. Paul Malong Awan in a certain hotel.

Hoping to meet colleagues, Miyen rushed to the agreed hotel only to find his assassins.

According to eye witnesses, Miyen’s body was found lying outside near the hotel soaked in blood.

So far no one has claimed responsibility and the police has gone silent on the matter.

The motive of his murder is not yet know, however, critics believe that the 37 year-old young man was killed for his connection to Gen. Paul Malong Awan.

Miyen’s death came in less than two weeks following a similar killing of another youth who was linked to Gen. Paul Malong.

On Nov 16, Akech Mawel Piol, another young man from Aweil community, was brutally murdered by the unknown gunmen in the capital, Juba.

Gen. Malong’s camp has faced many difficulties since his sacking in May this year.

While many of his officers remain in prisons in Juba, others have defected to SPLM/A-IO as Malong goes to exile in Kenya.
