October 21st 2029 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) has this afternoon arrested the Editor-in-chief of the Juba-based Dawn newspaper, sources said.

Emmanuel Monychol Akop was arrested by the country’s security department four days after commenting on the dressing code for government officials after foreign minister Awut Deng wore what “she wasn’t supposed” to wear.

“South Sudan’s National Security Service has arrested Editor of the Dawn News newspaper, Emmanuel Monychol Akop, on instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, four days after commenting on informal and unofficial clothing worn by Hon. Awut Deng Acuil,” a source in Juba told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon.

“In jail now at NSS arrested by Awut Deng Acuil minister of foreign affairs because I commented on her style of dress,” Monychol wrote on his social media page.

Last week, Monychol wrote on Facebook: “Is dressing code a problem? I am not sure if i am trying to scratch the back of uncooked squirrel….since some of our leaders do not like to be advised….they sue you if you advice them in the national interest.”

“I am being bombarded on messenger about the flowery dressing code of South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, with some calling this too colourful dressing ’embarrassing ‘ for a nation’s minister of foreign affairs,” Monychol added.

“Since I am not an expert of sort of dresses official or wedding or party or otherwise, , I pass this to someone out there to advice. To be honest it is the image of South Sudan we want represented, not self image….so it is indeed dressing code is a genuine concern for South Sudanese people.

“May be the state protocol officials are not doing their jobs, or are not employed at all? For those of you who know the difference between an executive official dress and other, elaborate here, because I too want to learn.”
