October 16th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former First Vice President who has now again been designated for the same position, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, has met South African vice president David Mabuza in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Monday.
The visit to the Sudanese capital came after a two-day state visit to South Sudan’s capital Juba where the South African envoy met with South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir, and discussed the implementation of the peace agreement signed last month in Ethiopia.
Several officials of the SPLM-IO told the Nyamilepedia that Machar discussed with the South African envoy more issues over the implementation of the peace agreement including regional support for its implementation.
“Yes, the South African vice president have met the Chairman and Commander in Chief. The two discussed more issues over the implementation of the peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa Ethiopia with the government,” the statement said.
The source added that the visiting South African envoy also met the Sudanese President, Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir pointing out that President Bashir had requested the South African politician of support in the peace implementation.
“The Sudanese President, H.E Field Marshal Omar Al-Bashir also asked the support of African leaders and that of the South African government in particular for the sack of expeditious implementation of the agreement,” the official added.
According to the senior opposition official, the South African envoy for his part reiterated the commitment of his government and of President Ramophosa to supporting peace in all the African continent.
South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon signed a peace deal in September 2018 in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa along with other opposition groups.
The deal was as results of a regional efforts led by the regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to try to end the five-year old brutal conflict in the young African country.
