BREAKING: Kiir, Machar agrees to work together for the third time

June 27th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s two leaders, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon have agreed to work together for the third time in a new but a revised version of the previous Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU).

Officials in Khartoum told the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday that the two leaders had agreed, partially, to a proposal set forth by the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir to end the conflict in South Sudan.

The proposal, seen by the Nyamilepedia calls for the establishment of three capital cities in the three South Sudanese regions. The current capital Juba in the Equatoria region to be the main capital and would be the seat of the Transitional Government of National Unity and Wau and Malakal in the Bhar Al-Ghazal Upper Nile regions respectively.

“These three outstanding issues includes the declaration of complete and lasting ceasefire and containment of all fighting forces in their positions, the two leaders accept to work together in the coming Transitional govt of National Unity and agree to forgive each and to apologize to the South Sudanese people for the situation they have been forced into agreed on three capitals, Juba, Wau and Malakal, Since the economy in a worse situation due to the ongoing war, the two leaders agree to delegate Sudan to take the necessary steps towards securing oil fields in South Sudan in coordination with the Govt of South Sudan and to work on the rehabilitation of the destroyed oil fields in order to restore previous levels of Oil production,” the official said in the statement.

The official said the remaining outstanding issues were the governance and security and are still under discussion and hopefully an agreement will be reached today Wednesday.

For his part, the SPLM-IO director of information Puok Both Baluang confirmed to the Nyamilepedia that the two leaders have agreed to work together and are expected to signed a agreement known as ‘Khartoum Political Declaration’ to day.
