September 25th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit has appointed the pre-transitional period committee which is tasked to make preparations for the formation of a unity government due for May next year.
In a degree read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Tuesday, President Kiir appointed to the committee Hon Tutkew Gatluak, deputy SPLM-IO chairman Henry Odwar head of the SSOA. Hon Gabriel Changson, representative of the former detainees, Hon Deng Alor Kuol, Dr Martin Elia , Dr Dhieu Mathok Wol, Hon Awut Deng Achuil. Hon Puot Kang Chol, Hon Peter Mayian Majongdit, Hon Michael Lueth.
The committee is expected to start it’s mandate as soon as it is setup by the President but unclear from where it will base.
President Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny alongside other opposition leader signed the long awaited peace deal in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the five-year old brutal conflict in the country.
The deal calls for the establishment of a transitional period of thirty-six month that will be preceded by a eight-months pre-transitional period which commenced upon the signing of the agreement.
