Gatdet confirmed that the attackers are repulsed but the SPLA-IO forces did not pursue them.
“The force which attacked our base at Jebel this morning has been defeated and chased back. Our forces have stopped and not followed them. Our partner is not able to control its forces.” Gatdet said.
Although what triggered the fighting is yet to be determined, military sources alleged that the SPLA soldiers loyal to president Salva Kiir were angered by a large number of casualties they incurred on Friday.
According to medical sources from Juba Teaching hospital, SPLA-IO incurred a total of 45 deaths and Salva Kiir’s SPLA lost 110 lives on Friday.
South Sudan’s presidency has tried to call for calm in the last two days, however, tension continued to build up.

The Opposition forces of Dr. Riek should know that Kiir’s Faction are divided over peace implementation with Kiir being indecisive to take the necessary decision to remove the hard liners because Kiir himself is afraid of them. Dr. Riek should not risk his life and that of his soldiers. He must come out clearly and inform the IC and IGAD that peace has broken down. Perhaps the only solution to salvage the country is to place it under UN mandate.
i do not believe that there will more will fore peace implementation from the government side, because those clicks who are on the government they don’t believe in peaceful coexistence with any party, unless if its a Dinka group like the JCE which use to advice them. we need to think double to come out with what to do.
hear the cry of your children, we lost our brothers and we are still dying. Till when will the blood be shed at SOUTHSUDAN .
May the Lord fight your battle and you will never be defeated
The fighting happen between the rebel themselves and that is the fact, Mr. Reik have to watch out for his life.
David,
Keep day-dreaming. That is good for people who are fools and anxious
Are u so desperate to see rebel defeated?
It won’t happen this times. This is the last battle…. Io in control at the airport.
My friend we want none defeated. We just need peace and hope you need it too.
Both parties have not adhered to the terms of peace and the failed coopde’ta will this time work. There are those promised positions coordinating good military take over of power by the opposition, they are working day and night for regime change forgetting the lives of those lost in the process
Paul malong is problem to South Sudanese peace. America should arest him immediately then peace will be in south Sudan
They have destroyed everything, but they just walk back so quick in order to occupied the position and that’s the SPLM-IO.
Oops! what the heck are we doing? why can’t we at least look back at our people whom we have subjected to this immense suffering? don’t we get tired of war anymore?
I WISH I COULD SLEEP ONE AND WAKE UP TO FIND PEACE BETWEEN THE RIVALS SO CALL
Now where is UN?
It was a stupid thing to do to have two armies in one country.
Gollia was killed by David
God is watching the crying
blood tears south Sudanese
are facing under the regime
of primitive leadership of
mr kiir and his greedy money
minded officials
can’t u depreciate btn humanbeing
and Dinka cows.
It was the opposition forces who started the fight by killing 5 government forces on Wednesday. Secondly it the same opposition forces who attacked an area around presidential palance where the leaders were having a meeting to discuss the the killing of the 5 government soldiers and any other security issues in the country.
ok it seems that s.sudanese cant accept that they are one even when both parties have signed a peace deal(rebels n salva kiir’s side)Some times u have to use ur damn head.We all demanded for separation but it seems that no one remembers that we did not vote for separation to end up like this
may God give full peace to south sudan p people.
ouch!!! dogs are fight of what the don’t deserved to be their benefits.. how come to have two different soldiers in the country?
if I were God , i would have to kill kiir, riek, kuol and malong they are the victims of south Sudan violence
There isn’t time to figure out who started the attacks but time to brainstorm for solution for our selves/country. Calling names is a bad thing but figuring out solution is the best thing for a young learned colleagues to do.
I suggest the both parties should command their forces on cease fire ASAP.
thy hv to sit 2gethr en plan fr their country, even da probm is on price ov dollar to be high wc led famine to the local pple.
The question here is are Jaang ready to be rebels and refugees in chad, Uganda, and their former slave master, the North Sudan. Apparently not and neither are they ready for a peaceful coexistence with other South Sudanese. In this case fighting some sense into their heads is rather a discretionary option. Diplomacy can wait along with peace.
