BREAKING: IGAD presents new power sharing proposal

May 22nd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) on Tuesday presented to the parties a new peace proposal that called for power sharing between the South Sudan’s parties negotiating peace deal in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, opposition official told the Nyamilepedia from the venue of the talks.

The new peace plan, according to an opposition official, propose Salva Kiir’s government takes 55% and Machar’s SPLM-IO 25%, other political parties 20%. The other political parties will divide up their 20% as follow: South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) 10% former detainees 5% and political parties Allied to Salva Kiir takes 5%, a South Sudan official told the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday.

South Sudanese delegates representing different parties to the South Sudan’s conflict at the Addis talks said on Tuesday that they have been informed by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) that they will be taking a ‘short break’ on Thursday before they would resumes mediation in June, a source told the Nyamilepedia from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, the venue of the talks, on Tuesday.
