May 31st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) –Â Gen. Buay Rolnyang who commanded Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) against the opposition troops belonging to the country’s former first vice president Riek Machar in Unity State defected this afternoon after fighting flared up in Unity State’s Mayom County.
Sources told the Nyamilepedia this morning that fighting started at 9:00 am in the town between soldiers loyal to Gen. Puljang Top who is allied to the South Sudanese government at a place called Nuane south of Mayom county.
“General. Buay Rolnyang defected this afternoon in mayom county following the clutch between him and Puljang Top in Nuan,” the source said.
Gen. Buay Rolnyang was the Special commander of the first SPLA Infantry Division in Upper Nile’s Melut oil fields and the current overall commander of government forces in Unity State.
