For his part, the SPLA-IO deputy spokesman Col. Lam Paul Gabriel told the Nyamilepedia that fighting has continued since the morning accusing government troops loyal to the country’s president, Salva Kiir Mayardiit of instigating thew fighting by attacking them.
“Yes the fighting is ongoing in Bagari Payam. We have defeated the government troops who initially came to capture the area following an aerial surveillance on the area but we have defeated them and the government troops are in hot pursuit,” he told the Nyamilepedia.
In a separate statement, Lam said troops loyal to the South Sudan government also attacked Mboro yesterday saying they were also repulsed as it is the case for Pageri in Imatong state
“This morning the 20/07/2018, at about 6:00AM, the regime’s forces attacked Bagari and they are also on the move to attack Mboro as I write. The anti peace aggression resumed yesterday the 19/07/2018, when the same enemy forces attacked two SPLA IO defensive positions of Mboro at 11:30AM and Bagari at about 5:00PM with the intention of capturing them, but they were all repulsed by the SPLA IO gallant forces, that’s why they are back on it today,” Lam wrote in a statement on his social media Facebook page.
