June 28th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Akoba state governor and ex-South Sudan army sectorial commander, General Johnson Gony Biliew, has died today in Turkey where he has been under medical treatment, family and close friends said.
A close relative and a friend with knowledge of the demise told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon that General Gony passed away at a Istanbul hospital at 11:00AM Turkish local time adding the have no details yet to his “sudden” death.
“He was there for a short period of time. He died in Istanbul at 11:00AM this morning but we are still to get details about how he died,” the family source said on condition of anonymity.
A close friend said they spoke to him a week ago without complaining and said he was improving and he told them that they should expect him at home in early July.
“I spoke to him about five or a week ago, he had no problem and he was telling me that he will return in the first week if July 2019,” the friend also said on the condition of anonymity.
The Nyamilepedia tried to reach out to his office but could not establish contact with authorities including those in Juba by the time of writing this story.
