September 3rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Eight South Sudanese soldiers have been killed in an ambush near Gok state capital Cueibet, authorities in the state have said.
The incident took place on Saturday after soldiers came into fight with armed youth over cattle according to sources who spoke to Nyamilepedia this afternoon.
Twenty-six soldiers had been dispatched on Friday to a cattle camp by the authorities to drive some cattle meant for a blood compensation and the armed youth reportedly disagreed and attacked the soldiers on the way according to one source.
“They were dispatched to get some cattle in a cattle camp just outside Cueibet,” one source told the Nyamilepedia from Cueibet.
The source said ten of the soldiers were wound with death expected to rise as some of the wounded are thought to be in a critical situation.
