August 13, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The body of senior SPLA-IO officer who died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum last week has been transported and laid to rest in his home town Rubkona, according to close friends and relatives.

Brigadier General Nhial Bol Thak died in Khartoum last week after a failed head surgery, according to relatives and senior SPLA-IO officials.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, an SPLA-IO official who accompanied the body to Bentiu’s Rubkona said the body was buried on Wednesday morning.

“Yes, the body of General Nhial Bol has been buried. He was buried in Rubkona town on Wednesday morning. He was a great fighter who has stood by his people and who will never be forgotten,” the official said.

Nhial hails from Rubkona county of Unity state. He was a member of the Sudan People Liberation Army (SPLA) during the liberation struggle between Southern Sudan and the successive regimes in Khartoum.

He was wounded in the head, something which became a life-long threat and eventually resulted in his death last week.
