Juba, South Sudan,
July 26, 2021 – Emotions are running across the Nimule border as the body of late musician Mantani makes its way to the South Sudanese capital Juba.
Media files shared with Nyamilepedia Monday show a mammoth crowd with the majority weeping and wiping tears as the body is taken inside an ambulance destined to Juba.
Mantani, real name Murye Alex was announced dead on 24th July after sustaining life-threatening injuries in an accident two days earlier.
The rapper who was a member of the Hardlife Avenue Stars music crew has succumbed to head injuries on Saturday after a referral from Lacor Hospital in Gulu to a hospital in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
Mantani was involved in a road accident in Moyo District of the West Nile region in Uganda, on July 22.
“It is true, he died an hour ago,” Promoter Sam, the group’s former manager, confirmed to the media after the incident.
“They had actually reached the hospital but there was a bit of delay. The person who was supposed to do the scan was not available and they were trying to reach another hospital and that was when he lost the battle.”
Promoter Sam said Mantani was transferred to Kampala for a CT scan on his head after sustaining a serious head injury.
From Yaude to their latest Ana Yau Bi Arif, Mantani, together with Nicky Prince and Linus, formed the most dynamic music trio in South Sudan.
