January 4th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A blacklisted South Sudanese-Sudanese company has been awarded a new contract by the office of President Salva Kiir to provide food to cantonment sites in violation to US sanctions, sources who refused to identify the company said.
Last year, the United States of America sanctioned a number of companies for their role in the ongoing conflict in the world’s youngest nation.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Friday, a government source in Juba said a company recently sanctioned by the United States has been awarded a contract by the government to provide food to cantonment sites.
The source said the contract was awarded after the company changed its name to avoid being identified by the international community and US sanction committees.
“A particular business once sanctioned though acquired a new business name gets the contract to supply food but doesn’t deliver yet it gets the full amount paid to it,” the source told the Nyamilepedia from Juba on condition of anonymity.
