October 9,2021—The leadership of the Bentiu community in Arab Republic of Egypt has nominated Mr. Chienglel Nyuon Gatluak as the new community leader and urged the former chairman, Mr. Ruai Thak, who was elected last July, to step aside.
This comes after a successful reconciliation initiative, spearheaded by the Bentiu Community elders, to breakdown the stalemate that led to election boycott of Bentiu community by the Dok and Haak communities in July citing lack of representation in the leadership and illegal amendment of some articles of the community’s constitution.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this evening, the newly nominated chairman of the Bentiu community, Chienglel Nyuon Gatluak, said he has been nominated by the Dok community to hold the position of Bentiu community after the chairman elect, Mr. Ruai Thak accepted to step down and vacate his position to two holdout communities, Haak and Dok communities.
According to the new chairman, the community position was allocated to Dok Community due to the fact that Dok Community has never led Bentiu Community in Egypt since 2004 and from there he was nominated as Dok son by his community to lead Bentiu Community after the consent of other six counties to elect community leaders based on rotational basis.
“Dok Community was given the chance in the meeting by the others six (6) counties of Unity State, due to the fact that, they only served in 2004 —- a gap they said wasn’t because they were isolated nor expelled by any of the leaderships throughout the years”, the new nominated leader Mr. Chienglel Nyuon Gatluak told Nyamilepedia from Egyptian Capital, Cairo.
“As clearly as the notes seems, would provide you with the relevant informations about the processes and on how Bentiu community in Egypt handled its internal spectacles – Dok community, hence, nominated me to be the chairman of Bentiu Community leadership, 2021-2022”, he added.
Mr. Gatluak is urging all Bentiu community in Egypt to work hand in hand for them to achieve their social goals and advises all members to put community interests above personal interests.
It is not the first time for Mr. Chienglel Nyuon Gatluak to serve at Bentiu Community in Egypt. In 2020 he was elected as Chairman of Unity State Students Association in Universities and Higher Institutions in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
