April 27th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Bentiu Community Association in the Arab Republic of Egypt has elected a new Chairman and a new Secretary General in an elections conducted in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Friday.
Yam Ruot Gatdet was elected by 146 votes as the Chairman of the Bentiu Community Association in the Arab Republic of Egypt in a landslides against 71 who voted for the other candidate Gatkouth Gatloth.
Yam Ruot in his speech urged unity among the people of the defunct Unity State’s seven counties as he appeared strong to face challenges that has engulfed the Association for the last two year.
Yam now inhered from his predecessor Majong Banguot Nangjang a polarized association which has been unstable since 2016 as some members of the association decided to separate politics from the community affairs while other sees this as a betrayal to the victims of the Juba massacre as new fault lines ensued as the aftermath of Taban Deng Gai’s defection from the SPLM-IO in July 2016.
Yam said he will convenes meetings with the elders, women groups and the youth in order to help him lay down the foundation on which basis a new Bentiu will be build.
Jal Mayiel Lok was elected the Secretary General without a contender which is also the case for Bakuony Kothlony who has been elected as the Council’s Chairman.
The other candidate conceded defeat and has vowed to work together with the incoming Chairman.
