December 31st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) denied on Sunday reports that it attacked and kidnapped civilians along a Yei road saying a group of its former officers are the one terrorizing people.

The SSNMC is a opposition group led by former South Sudan’s Western Equatoria governor Joseph Bakasoro and is a part of the opposition umbrella, the South Sudan Opposition Alliance led by Gabriel Changson Lew Chang or Gen. Peter Gatdet.

In a statement issued on Sunday and extended to the Nyamilepedia, the SSNMC spokesman Daniel Zingifuaboro said they were informed about the ongoing looting but said the people responsible are former members of the group but are not members currently.

“We are informed that these officers have been using SSNMC name to commit those atrocities. These officers are being commanded by General Abraham Wani in coordination with South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA), which is opposed to R-ARCSS,” he said.

The statement further pointed finger at the South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA), a opposition alliance of non-signatories of the revitalized peace deal signed in September by Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar.

“The organizations forming SSNDA coalition are solely responsible for violation of ceasefire and cessation of hostilities agreement around Yei,” he said.
