April 1st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Authorities in South Sudan’s capital Juba have banned the sale of humanitarian items in the markets.

Last week, a team from the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) and the Relief and South Sudan Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) complained to the Juba City Council that items including food that were meant for aid are being sold at the Konyokonyo Market.

Members of the Juba City Council rushed into the market and seized the humanitarian items and warned the traders there to decease from selling them in the future.

Speaking to reporters in Juba on Saturday, the deputy Mayor of Juba city, Thiik Thiik Mayardiit, said the food item that was seized last week will be redistributed back to the needy warning that kany person found involving in such activity will be brought to book.

“We have seized several food items and we will redistribute these items ranging from food to other things to the needy whom it was meant for,” he said. Those found  doing this activity again will be dealt with accordingly.”
