Jonglei State, South Sudan
May 22, 2022 — Authorities in South Sudan’s Jonglei State have shutdown Jonglei Radio over misconduct and ethical issues against state leadership.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, State Information Minister Samuel John Manyuon issued a Ministerial Order suspending the operation of the radio without stating the date it would be back on air.
The state spokesman said he suspended the state television because it deliberately undermine government officials by not considering the protocol when making an announcement.

John Samuel Manyuon, Minister of Information and Communication Jonglei State do herby issue this Ministerial Order No. 011/2022 for the suspension of the Radio Jonglei 95.9 for intentionally supplanting and superseding the government protocols and undermining the state leadership “Jonglei State Information Minister Manyuon ordered in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.
According to Manyuon, the order shall be effective from the time of its signature by the Minister.
It is not the first time for the Radio Jonglei to be suspended. In August last year the radio was suspended and its staff including the Editor-In-Chief Deng Ghai Deng were detained for displaying contents of the group civil society and political activists, an umbrella think-tank group aimed to force President Salva Kiir and First Vice Dr. Riek Machar Teny to exit from the helm of power or else they would go for a nationwide demonstrations.
