Speaking to media from Bor town on Saturday, governor Denay said 9 people were killed in two separate incidents on Friday.

Hon. Denay said two young men, who were traveling on motorbikes were ambushed and killed in Anyidi Payam in one incident; however, in retaliation civilians from Murle community were attacked in Bor town and at least 7 people were killed.

“I take this time to express my sincere heartfelt sympathies for the lost of our greatest brother Edward Deng, he was the greatest humble soul who inspired us with his genuine love and care for all of his friends and relatives, we will sadly miss you Edward Deng…..I can’t believe you have gone like that. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Missing you already our Master.” Said Herjok Atherkuei

“Extremely bad,bad and bad!God, why do you leave us in confusion like this?what a bad day that day is! Great legend, kind and humble just went like that! You will be remembered forever for your good deeds though you went earlier” Said Kabila De Luol

Among the civilians, who were killed from the Murle community, were businessmen men who were living and providing service to communities in Bor town.

The governor has condemned the two incidents and pledged to bring all the criminals behind such crimes to book.

““These are our brothers and sisters, they should not be killed because of some criminals that come and kill people. So I have gave orders to all oru security organs form Army to National Security and CID to make sure we bring those who are involved and make sure that justice is done”, Denay Chagor told the press in Bor Town on Saturday.

At the time of this writing, Jonglei state authorities did not disclose the name of civilians killed from the Murle community for the fear of more retaliations and counter relations.

The Murle tribe has been in feuds with communities from Jonglei state for decades over cattle and children, and attempts to resolve the crises between these communities are jeopardized by criminals on all sides who do not comply with the peace initiatives.
