September 10,2021— Authorities in Jonglei State confirmed that at least 437 men between the age of 15 to 49 have been circumcised within the last three months in Malual-Chaat Military hospital alone.
According to Jonglei State Information Minister, Panther Ajak, clinical supervisor based at Malual-Chaat Military hospital confirmed that the hospital circumcizes nearly 150 men per month.
“a clinical supervisor based at Malual-Chaat Military hospital, for the last three(3) months, they have circumcised 437 men aged 15- 49”, Jonglei State Information Minister, Panther Ajak confirmed to media.
One of the clinical supervisors, whose name is withheld said, the clients are interested in circumcision exercise and this has been proven by their turn out in good number which is tantamount to 70% per day although the expected clients every day are15 only.
“Moreover, they are overwhelmed by huge number of clients turn up to about 70 per day yet their limit is 15 clients per day. In his words, “this confirm that Tong Atong is working well and the response is positive from our youth”. She added from Malwal-Chaat Military Hospital.
According to state information minister, Ajak, they have also contracted CSO who provides the necessary services to the clients such as transport to their respective locations after the procedure.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Jonglei State Minister of Health, Atong Kuol Manyang acknowledges the roles played by Government of South Sudan especially National Ministry of Health for its efforts in making the circumcision initiative succeed.
