December 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A army general of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has been shot dead in the country’s capital Juba on Saturday by one of his body guards, the South Sudan army said on Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Peter Lahid Remy who was working with the Presidential Guard Tiger Battalion before his death was killed at his resident in Khor William, a Juba suburb south of the Qiada barrack which is located South of Juba University, the Eye Radio reported the army spokesman Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang.
Lul was quoted by the Eye Radio as saying the deceased was killed on Sunday without giving further details to the incident that is an alarming news to South Sudanese who have known for years what they call ‘unknown’ gunman.
“On the 16th December, Brigadier General Peter Lahid Remy was shot by his own bodyguard at his own house at Khorwiliang,” Lul said.
Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai further said the reason behind the killing of such an high-ranking army officer remains unclear vowing the army is working to apprehend the suspect who is, according to him, still not arrested.
“At this stage we have no idea why he was shot dead because his killer still at large and we are still hunting for him,” Lul said.
