May 18, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A large group of heavily armed youth from South Sudan’s Ruweng Administrative area have attacked a village in Guit County of Unity state killing four people including a woman and a child, local government officials have said.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this evening, a senior government official in Guit County said the attack took place today at dawn adding that the victims were two men, a child and a woman and that five people were in a very critical condition.

“This morning’s attack was launched on Kuerbowni by armed militias from Pariang County in Ruweng. Four people including one woman and one child were killed in the attack. Five people have been hospitalized but are in a very bad condition,” the official who refused to be named said from Bentiu.

“We condemn this barbaric attack on innocent civilians and urges the government in Juba to speak to the authorities in Ruweng so that similar incident doesn’t repeat itself in the featuring because if this will be the life, some people will suffer,” the official said.

The incident in Unity state comes as similar attacks are being carried out in Greater Akobo area by Murle youth where several people have been killed and unknown number of cattle has been raided.
