November 26th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Another senior general of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has died in the Ethiopian town of Gambella, the main armed opposition group, said in a condolence statement on Tuesday.
Brig. Gen. Malual Dok Koryom who hails from South Sudan’s Bieh state of the greater Jonglei died on Wednesday last week following a short illness according to the letter extended to Nyamilepedia.
“On behalf of the government and people of Bieh state and on my own behalf, I would like to convey our deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolence to the SPLA-IO Leadership entire of Lou- Nuer Community and particularly the family members and friends of late Brig Gen. Malual Dok Koryom for his untimely death occurred in Gambella Region in Ethiopia on 20 /11/2019,” opposition governor of Bieh state General Hoth Duol said in a statement extended to Nyamilepedia this afternoon.
His death came a few days after the demise of Brigadier Augustino Modi who was the deputy commander of the SPLA-IO forces at Lobujo cantonment in Western Equatoria region.
“Brig Gen. Malual Dok Koryom’s death is a great loss to SPLM/A-IO and the entire nation of South Sudan,” the statement said.
“He sacrificed his life for his people and the SPLM/A-IO’s vision. His mission and ambition will continue to guide toward our destiny.
“Brig Gen Malual Dok Koryom shall be amongst the heroes whose names marked the road map to the birth of this young Nation South Sudan.”
