April 28th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Another South Sudan opposition group has called for the extension of the pre-transitional period given the incomplete of pre-transitional arrangements.
This come a day after the National Democratic Movement (NDM), led by Dr. Lam Akol and more than a week after the SPLM-IO, led by Dr. Riek Machar said they want an extension for the pre-transional period.
“This revitalized peace agreement has to be extended for more months as proposed by SPLM/A-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar,” said a statement signed by Deng Vanang, a spokesperson for a splinter group led by Gen. Gordon Koang Chuol.
“For any peace deal short of necessary implementation and includiveness is a sure recipe for more destruction than might be previously thought,” the statement added.
The statement which is also extended to the Nyamilepedia said t&ey requested the extension however not only because of the difficulties faced in pre-transional preparations, but because of the sense that it is not inclusive.
“We request the extension not only because Kiir refused to implement it, but also because it is non-inclusive and exclude some opposition forces and key players in the conflict,” the statement said.
The official wondered in the statement why Salva Kiir, the President, has money to wage the war and has no money to implement the peace agreement.
“He has enough money to wage war, then why is he lacking money to wage peace when it is even more expensive to persecute war than to bring about peace for the multitudes more than willing to embrace it,” the official asked.
