February 9, 2022 — A cargo aircraft that was chartered to deliver examination crashed-landed in Agok airstrip in Abyei this morning, authorities in the area confirmed.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Abyei chief administrator, Kuol Dim Kuol confirmed the incident saying all five crew members on-board and examination papers weren’t affected.
“All five crew members on-board and the examination papers are safe and intact”,Abyei Chief Administrator Kuol said in a statement extended to Nyamilepedia.
According to Kuol, the accident damaged one wing of the aircraft.
The plane left Juba this morning for Bentiu, then proceed to Abyei and was destined to travel to Rumbek to deliver examination papers.
South Sudan’s Minister for general education, Awut Deng Acuil, who is on an official visit to Abyei said the exam papers are in the custody of the police, adding that the incident would not frustrate the distribution of examination papers across the country.
“. The crash will not disrupt the distribution of papers to all parts of the country”, Deng stated.
Last month, Minister Awut announced that the national primary school examinations will begin on the 14th of February 2022.
