In a decree announced on the Sudan-owned National Television on Thursday evening, Gen. Al-Burhan releases Abza El-Belul, the Former Minister of Information, Ali Jidu , the Minister of Trade and Investment, Yousif Adeye, the Minister of Youth and Sports and Ashem Rasule, the Minister of Telecommunication.

The four have been held behind bars for the last 10 days and ten other political figures remained in custody including the Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-N Yasir Saed Arman, who was serving as Hamdok’s senior political advisor.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Khartoum, the former Office Manager at Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ayman Tayeb said, the release of the detained politicians is welcomed but said there is no reason for detention of other leaders.

” Yes, it’s very welcoming decision for Al-Burhan to release four civilian leaders but we’re not satisfied because they are still holding the others”, Tayeb told Nyamilepedia from Sudanese Capital Khartoum.

Some Sudanese civil society and political activists have welcomed the release of the four ministers but continue to demand unconditional release of the remaining politicians.

The activists called the decision as positive moves towards building trust between civilian and military leaders in Khartoum.
