October 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – African leaders are being criticized for sleeping during Afro-Russian summit conducted in Sotchi, Russia on Wednesday.

Photos of African presidents attending the Sotchi gathering appeared on social media showing South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni (among others) sleeping while President Vladimir Putin was delivering opening statement.

African citizens took to the social media and criticized their “lazy” leaders who they said would come back to the continent without anything learned from the summit.

They are lazy leaders,” one social media user said. “They will return back to Africa and would not recall anything about the summit.”

Another social media user questioned the capability of many attending the summit saying: “Are these people (African leaders) really qualified to represent Africa’s diplomacy and lead the continent?”

President Salva Kiir appeared awake as his fellow African leaders were sleeping. One social media user said: “While other African leaders slept like logs during Russia-Africa summit, President Kiir resisted the Sochi’s temptation and remained highly awake and attentive.”

He was mindful of South Sudan – full of critics – and didn’t want to bring shame home.”
