April 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The allocation of more crude oil barrels to a Chinese road firm entrusted by South Sudan government to build roads initially to connect the country’s Bahr el Ghazal region will now includes construction of roads connecting the capital with the Upper Nile region, Presidential Press Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, has confirmed.

Last month, South Sudan government allocated a daily budget of ten thousand (10,000) barrels of crude oil to a Chinese state road company to construct hundreds of kilometers of roads connecting the capital Juba to the Bahr el Ghazal region.

Last week, South Sudan’s information minister, Michael Makuei Lueth, told reporters in Juba following a weekly cabinet meeting that the government has approved a a request by South Sudan’s First Vice-President, Taban Deng Gai, to an increment of 20,000 barrels to the Chinese oil company to develop roads.

“The cabinet approved additional 20,000 drums to make it 30,000 drums per day to be ‘deposited’ in an account in China,” Makuei said without pointing whether the new increment will include construction of roads connecting the Upper Nile region to the capital Juba.

Following this, the Nyamilepedia decided to reach out to the Presidential Press Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, on the matter and confirmed that the new increase of crude oil allocation to the Chinese road firm “is for all roads.”
