June 18th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The inter-linked peace consultations between South Sudanese parties in Addis Ababa is expected to be closed today and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development is expected to prepare a new and a revised bridging power-sharing proposal to the parties before the next phase of the High-Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF).
Officials at the South Sudan peace consultations in Addis Ababa told Nyamilepedia that peace consultations will close later in the day and the regional mediation is expected to revise the previous proposal and prepare a final one that the region will require the parties to sign based on the current proposals and views presented by the parties at the consultation.
“Consultations will ends today and the IGAD will go and prepare a revised bridging proposal which will be signed by everybody because I think it will be a take it or leave it proposal which will not require the views of the parties unlike the previous one,” a senior official representing the South Sudan Opposition Alliance told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.
Another source told Nyamilepedia that the parties are currently discussing the timeline for the implementation of the integration of forces but said have not reached any remarkable point in this regard so far.
“We are currently discussing the timeline for the integration of forces but we are yet to agree on anything in regard to this issue and I don’t think that there will be an agreement before the closure of the talks today,” the source said.
