Novemeber 7the 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The acting SPLM-IO governor of Yei River State, Col. Sam Mawa Milton, has  assured the people of his State of his administration’s commitment to the full implementation of the R-ARCSS.
Milton was appointed by Machar last month to take over from Matata following a suspension by the SPLM-IO leader last month over corruption charges.
Milton said  his government is taking necessary steps to expedite the process of disseminating the R-ARCSS to the masses, reconciliation and healing so to rebuild and consolidate sustainable peace and security in the State.
“The Acting Governor takes a bold stance to congratulate President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the entire people of South Sudan and all the regional and international friends of South Sudan for the compromises made to achieve peace and for the successful celebrations of the peace in Juba which is indeed a laudable milestone for confidence building in the peace process,” a statement by the governor’s office said.
The governor also said, according to the statement, he regreturned recent clashes between the rival forces in most part of the Equatoria region.
“Nevertheless, the Acting Governor also regrets that the recent senseless clashes between and among armed forces at Kupera and Mundu in Lainya County, Kendiri and Mangalatore in Kajo-Keji County and Minyori and Mugwo in Yei River County were uncalled for and have continued to cause loss of lives and property of innocent civilians and new displacements. He condemns in the strongest possible terms the atrocities committed against civilians with impunity by parties involved in those fights. However, he calls upon the opposition groups who still hold arms and the commanders of the SPLA (SSPDF) who are partners in peace within the State to cease all forms of hostilities, embrace and reciprocate the R-ARCSS,” the statement added.
The statement further the acting governor “promises to candidly work with all stakeholders to forge cooperation with the peace partners in Yei and dialogue  with other armed opposition groups in a bid to break the cycle of suffering. He adds that the people of Yei River State have gone through tragic experiences and that it is high time politicians left aside selfish political differences to allow a path for the return of peace and normalcy in the State.”
