May 19, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Latest reports from South Sudan’s Jonglei State allege that the recent heavy encounters over the weekend in Duk county between the two warring factions of SPLA and their allies were brought to an end by a “new irregular force” in the conflict.
While Nyamilepedia correspondents were closely investigating the conflict and its enormous damages in the border areas, independent accounts confessed to our editorial team that the well planed government assaults on the rebels’ strongholds with intent to capture the Greater Akobo were not only frustrated by an heavy rain that flooded the region but also an erst of bees that flocked the butter zones in the last few days.
According to Nyarok Bol, who spoke to our correspondent in the area, a swarm of bees attacked government troops in Pajut before their eventual withdrawals from the area towards Panyegor.
Nyarok, who speaks softly yet hardly smiling, said in Nuer, “Ca ke cham e tuar, ca ke cham e tuar” which literally means “they have been eaten by bees, x2”.
Asked if this was an usual occurrence here in the village, Nyarok confessed that she never seen anything like this in her life.
“Bees come sometimes but in small number too. When they come, they don’t just eat people like that unless you interfere with their colony. This one, I have never seen it in my life.” she explained.
Nyarok further stresses that the two symbols; heavy rains and bees, are a sign of peace saying our people “should now stop fighting one another and start bringing our people back together”, even God is not happy with us.
Nyarok, who speaks fluently in both Dinka and Nuer languages, said the two weeks conflict has displaced nearly two-third of the population and caused massive destruction of lives and property in her county.
Her experience was reiterated by Tito Thorn Lual, and a few other residents of Pajut, some claimed that the government troops have abandoned five tanks and seven mounted pick-up trucks between Pajut and Poktap due to the heavy rains.
“They abandoned their [govermnet troops] vehicles and big guns. I came here quick to look myself a gun.” Tito said
“They brought us many guns, if they come often like this every white army can have a tank here in Pajut.”  Mr. Thorn said.
“Our boys [White army] got themselves five tanks and seven vehicles carrying big guns and ammunition. All are good to go” He continued.
When asked of death toll, the few residents who just returned to the area gave varying estimates, but most fear that over 400 lives have been lost in the weekend battles alone.
The government troops launched major counter-attacks on Sunday on the opposition troops in Poktap and pushed the rebels towards Pajut.
The trouble government of President Salva Kiir launched major crack downs on the Opposition’s strongholds in Jonglei, Upper Nile and Unity States this month with intention to capture their headquarters before heavy rains resume, however, the assaults have encountered many challenges in the three states.
In Upper Nile, the government has lost control of the state capital and other strategic areas. The rebels are reportedly making progress in Akoka, a distance of approximately 30 kilometers away from Malakal.
The war in Upper Nile continues until this morning, however, the allied Opposition of SPLA-[IO] and SPLA-Agwelek forces of Maj. Gen Johnson Olony are believed to have an upper hand as both sides testified.
In Unity State, SPLA-in Government has taken control of some rebels’ strongholds while aiming to capture Leer and Panyinjiar headquarters. Current reports from Koch county of Unity State stress that grave human rights violations continue in the county.
In other reports, the United Nations denounces the killing, abduction, rapes and force recruitment of children in Unity State.
