In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the delegation of political leaders led by Alfred Lado Gore, Former Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-IO, discussed a wide range of issues affecting the community and the people of Central Equatoria State.

“The issues raised are, rampant insecurity in Central Equatoria State, land grabbing and other related issues such as a representation of Bari people in the national and state Governments, drought and the roaming of cattle in Bari land,” the statement reads in part.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit exchanged views towards seeking amicable and sustainable solutions on these issues that have been raised.

According to the presidential unit, Kiir pledged to address the concerns and urged the Bari community to peacefully co-exist with other communities in their land and with their neighbors.

Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, Minister of Presidential Affairs who witnessed their discussion told the media after the meeting that the delegation raised issues relevant to the prime interest of the local population of Bari and appeals to the Government to take strict measures to address them.

Alfred Lado who served as National Minister of Land and Housing praised Kiir for his efforts to bring peace and stability to the nation and assured the President that the people of the Bari Community fully support his leadership and implement the peace agreement.

Members of the Bari community of Central Equatoria State are being displaced daily from their homes by land grabbers who grab land with impunity since most of them are politically connected.
