January 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The 40th day funeral service for the popular Nuer spiritual leader, Mut Turoah Nyawei who died in December last year is set to be conducted next week in Northern Liech State’s Ruadh Nyibol town, the family have announced.
In a brief statement to the Nyamilepedia on Thursday, Gatkuoth Mut Turoah, the son of the late spiritual leader said the funeral will be conducted next week.
“The funeral ceremony of our late father Gatdeng is scheduled for 30th January this month in Northern Liech State. The place will be Ruadh Nyibol in Bul West County,” he said in the statement.
“Therefore, we the family would like to invite all the government officials, friends, colleagues and relatives to come and join us in function,” he added.
Gatdeng died of prostrate cancer on December 21 last year following a lengthy battle with the sickness. Prior to his death, he was taken to Juba, Khartoum and later flown back to Mayom after doctors said the sickness was in its last stage.
He was born in 1933 and died at the age of 85 in December 2019.
