November 29,2021—Local authorities in Leer County of South Sudan’s Unity State says they have arrested four people suspected to have connection to a revenge attack that took place in the county four days ago.
On Wednesday a revenge attack was carried out by unidentified youth in which one person was killed.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Stephen Taker Riak, Leer county commissioner, said the four suspects were involved in killing a man identified as Nyandok Gatluak to avenge the killing of their family member who was killed long time ago.
The commissioner said they apprehended four suspects from the avenging side and they are now undergoing investigations under the custody of security apparatus.
“We have arrested four suspects from that family and they are in custody for investigation with security forces. We are working here to make sure such a thing should not happen again in the community,” Commisioner Riak said.
According to Unity State Information Minister, Hon Gabriel Makuei Bol, the suspects were arrested and authorities have launched a manhunt for the assailants.
In related news, Minister Bol also revealed that, 35 cattle were rescued after a cattle raid in Panyijiar county where at least 45 cattle were raided.
“No one was killed in the raid” , information minister Bol confirmed.
He further stressed that some suspected criminals have been arrested over raid crimes.
According to the Minister, the local government of Panyijiar County under the leadership of the commissioner Gabriel Machiek Bol has made an effort to arrest those culprits and the cows and they have caught some criminals .
The authorities announced that they have recovered 38 cows and are left with 7 more to go.
” Only seven of the 45 cows have not been recovered,” Machiek said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.
