September 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon is leaving the Sudanese capital Khartoum for the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa ahead of the signing ceremony of the final peace deal between the opposition and the government.
Machar, according to the SPLM-IO deputy Chairman of the National Committee of Information and Public Relations Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, is at the Khartoum airport leaving for Ethiopia.
According to Gatkuoth, the Machar is accompanied by a group of senior SPLM-IO officials including the Chairman of National Committee for Foreign Relations Stephen Par Kuol, Chairman of National Committee for Information and Public Relations Mabior Garang de’Mabior among other officials.
South Sudan government and opposition groups in early August signed a peace agreement that would seek to create and Presidency with five vice-presidents.
Machar, according to the deal, will be reinstated as first vice president and a cabinet of 35 ministers will be divided between the opposition groups.
