Popular Nuer spiritual leader Gatdeng dies in Mayom aged 85

December 21st, 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Popular Nuer spiritual leader Mut Turoah Nyawey Nhial also known as Gatdeng has passed away in his home state Northern Liech on Thursday night, officials close to him have told the Nyamilepedia this morning.

Gatdeng who is dubbed as a peacemaker and a thinker by many passed away at the aged of 85 following a sudden demise of his health after doctors discovered that he was suffering from Throat Cancer.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia on Friday morning,  former Mayom county commissioner Brig. Gen. John Madeng Gatduel said Gatdeng has been suffering from the throat cancer and was taken to Juba and Khartoum alike only to be returned home after doctors realized that the disease is at its later stages.

“He was just brought back from Khartoum after Doctor realized that the throat cancer is in advance stages,” he told the Nyamilepedia this morning.

Gen. Madeng told the Nyamilepedia that Gatdeng left behind a message of maintaining peace with neighbors and urged the prevention of young men from destroying peace with neighbors.

“But the message he left behind is that maintain peace [with] your neighbor and control young men from destroying peace. We are so happy to hear him that was 72 hours talks,” Gen. Madeng told the Nyamilepedia.

“He is a man of peace by the way,” he added.

Since August, Gatdeng’s health and been on a demise and was rushed to doctors in Juba who letter operated him and sent him for further medical care to the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

He was returned to his hometown Mayom early this month after doctors failed to fight cancer.
