Qatar behind Sudan’s Thursday coup attempt – official

July 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A member of the Sudan’s ruling military junta has accused the state of Qatar of being behind an attempted coup that authorities in Khartoum said they foiled on Thursday.

The Transitional Military Council (TMC) said in a statement on Thursday that dozens of military officers have been arrested after they attempted to takeover the government in Khartoum by force.

The Council further announced in a televised address by a leader of the TMC security sub-committee that an unnamed architect of the failed coup had been arrested and authorities were caring our investigation.

In a statement to Nyamilepedia this morning, a member of the Sudan’s ruling junta said on the condition of anonymity that based on preliminary investigation, Qatar – a wealthy Gulf nation – appeared to be the driver for the officers.

“Based on the first results of investigation, Qatar appear[s] to be the one behind the coup attempt,” the official told the Nyamilepedia without giving details.
