August 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – One member of Sudan’s ruling Sovereignty Council has resigned hours after accepting the role and taking oath of office as member of the 11-member body.
Mohamed al-Faki Suleiman said he will not proceed with the role as member of the sovereignty council because the armed groups are not part of the constitutional declaration and the body.
“The sovereign council includes civilians because they always accept a settlement, so, for me to proceed, the armed movement’s must be included in the council,” he said.
Suleiman who initially accepted the role said he has submitted his resignation as member of the Council.
No statement has been issued by the council yet.
