Salva Mathok accused of attempting to assassinate Gogrial state coordinator in Juba

August 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former deputy minister of interior Salva Mathok Gengdit has been accused of trying to assassinate the head of the Gogrial state coordination office in the country’s capital Juba.

According to a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, the Gogrial state coordinator in Juba said the former deputy minister of interior was mobilizing gangs who tried to kill him by attacking his house on Sunday.

“Their activities made me impatient to take this silver opportunity to condemn in the strongest term possible Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit for his irresponsible statement he released in the suspended occasion that “it is lack of someone to kill Simon Machuar Manhkeracnaak,” the statement partly read.

He said a group of armed gang headed by Aciec Benjamin attempted his assassination upon the orders of Salva Mathok on Sunday.

“And he [Mathok] ordered gangs headed by Aciec Benjamin to illegally arrest and even attempt my assassination Yesterday. But when they failed; they attack my house three times at the same night of 29 July 2018,” he said in the statement.

He condemned what he said has been regularly said by the former deputy minister accusing Mathok of publicly threatening to kill him during a Freedom Hall speech in March this year in the presence of the Gogrial state governor.

“I also condemn such stupid targeting in word and letter because it is not the first time for these officers to wish death upon me. Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit warned me for arrest in March 2018 publicly in Freedom Hall, in front of Hon. Governor Victor by swearing that ” he will arrest me using his power of being General”,” the statement further said.

“He also threaten me in previous year, when his wife was County Commissioner. And he asked some Youth to search the residential area and the number of the house where my children lived; which caused me fear to take them to Bhar Elghazal. Gen. Salva Mathok incited some of my Uncles that I have contributed to the killing of their son and incited Apuk Youth Union in Juba to threaten me that they know where I usually sleep and promised to kill me at any time they feel suitable.This statement was published in the dawn newspaper last year and I still have copy,” he further said.
