Breaking: South Sudan army chief dies in Cairo

April 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s army chief 1st Lt Gen. James Ajongo Mawut dies this morning in a Egyptian hospital where he has been under medical care for the last one week, source from the South Sudan embassy told Nyamilepedia.

“The army chief died this morning. We were shocked because he has been recovering for the last few days,” the source said without revealing the cause of the death.

For his part, Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny announced on his Facebook page that the army chief passed away this morning at a Egyptian military hospital in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

“It is with deep sorrow and utter shock to announce to the South Sudanese the passing of a great Hero of all times, a friend of mine , my school mate and brother-in-law Gen. James Ajonga Mawut Unguec Ajonga,” he said adding that this happened in a Egyptian military hospital at 04:30 am today.
“He passed away this morning at 4:30 am today Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Egyptian Military Hospital in Cairo,”
He added that the president had declared three days national mourning an ordered the flag to be lowered at half mast.

it is very sad news for every South Sudanese within and outside the country the death hero 1st Lt Gen James Ajonga, the SPLA Chief of General Staff. please did not nothing bad against your nation R .I .P
