Feb 11, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —– Latest reports from South Sudan capital confirm that a former governor of Phow State, Hon. James Kok Ruei, was briefly detained at Juba International Airport by members of national security forces loyal to president Salva Kiir.

According to one of the insiders, who spoke to Nyamilepedia on condition of anonymity, Hon. Kok was about to travel to Kampala on a private mission when the security officers apprehended him and immediately took him away for further investigation.

“James Kok Ruei was detained at the airport runway when the plane he was traveling in was about to take off at Juba International Airport by the National Security Agents” Said John, an insider who prefers to be coded for purpose of his safety.

The reliable source reveals that James Kok is being suspected of carrying out malicious activities against Salva Kiir government in East Africa.

The confidential source reiterates that James Kok has been communicating with Gen. Paul Malong Awan before and after he traveled to East Africa.

“He recently met Gen. Paul Malong Awan physically in Nairobi, Kenya” John continues.

The security officers suspect Hon. James Kok to be communicating with the former detainees, also known as SPLM leaders, and the forces believe that his aborted mission was aimed to meet Gen. Mac Paul, a former Intelligence Officer, in neighboring Uganda.

“His plan to travel to Kampala yesterday was to meet Mac Paul. The security agents tracked his moves and he was detained yesterday as the result.” The insider continued.

Hon. Kok served for a short period as a governor of a newly created Phou State on Kiir’s side, however, he was removed and replaced with Gen. John Kong Nyuon without explanation.

Honable Kok has not served a well established position in Salva Kiir government since South Sudan became independent in 2011, however, he has appeared on a number of portfolios which he served for not more than two years.

It remains to be clarified what provoked the house arrest of a former governor, however, Hon. Kok has been named on a number of controversies in the last four years but he remains calm and loyal to Salva Kiir’s leadership.

At the time of this writing, the former governor was allowed to return to his house in Juba with caution that his moves are being strictly monitored by the National Security while the investigation is underway.
