Nov 22, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– Peter Malith Gatkuoth, a South Sudanese national who worked for Relief and Rehabilitation Commission(RRC), was attacked and killed at his residence in the capital Juba, South Sudan.

Peter Malith, who was identified as Peter Nyale by the RRC, was shot dead at night on November 17th by “unknown gunmen” in the capital, Juba.

“With deep sorrow, the RRC inform the public that we lost one of our Director, Mr Peter Nyale on 17 November 2017 in juba.” Reads part of the RRC reports.

“He was shot dead at night in his residence by the usual unknown gunmen. Such criminals who take away lives of innocent one shall never glorify in their lives.” RRC Reports continued.

The commission describes late Peter as “a very energetic, committed and humble young man who devoted his time and energy to serve his country. ”

Peter served as a Director of communication until his death.

To allow staffs to mourn their colleague, the RRC declared two days mourning period from Monday to Tuesday saying that workers shall resume their duties on Wednesday 22 November 2017.

According to his colleagues, friends and family, Gatkuoth was a “beautiful soul” who does not deserve to die at such an early age.

Peter just married last year, 2016. He left behind a young daughter and his wife, Vivian.

A few hours before Peter’s tragic death, Vivian posted pictures and prayed for a better future for her young family, sadly everything she had was stolen by “unknown gunmen” the following night.

For the last five days friends, family and colleagues have poured in their heartfelt condolences and prayers for the deceased family, specially his young daughter.

“Unknown gunmen are the current South Sudan tragedy. When can they be known? So far the motive of Peter’s sudden death in the hands of his fellow South Sudanese is not yet known.

Peter is from the Nuer tribe, majority of whom live in congested UN Protection Sites for internally displaced persons due to fear of their lives.

Like Peter many other unarmed NGOs employees have been killed in the capital by the “unknown gunmen” yet the regime in power has done very little so far to investigate and prevent similar killings.
