Oct 6, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— On 6th October 2017, The UK Ambassador to South Sudan, Alison Balckburne, was the Guest of Honor at the CTSAMM medal ceremony to acknowledge the efforts of outgoing ceasefire monitors.

The outgoing monitors have served a total of one year with the CTSAMM and have been part of the monitoring and verification teams that monitor the ceasefire in 16 different locations across South Sudan.

The CTSAMM Deputy Chairman, Major General, Tariq Abdelkarim, opened the event by welcoming the UK Ambassador and thanking the UK for their continued support to the CTSAMM.

The UK Ambassador then spoke on the important role CTSAMM plays in the peace process.

“Your work helps ensure that we understand the fighting that is taking place. As we all know, the sad and very concerning fact is that is that widespread conflict continues to afflict South Sudan, despite declared ceasefires. The human and humanitarian consequences are on a scale which is both shocking and completely unacceptable” said the Ambassador.

In closing the Ambassador thanked the ceasefire monitors for their contributions and gave assurances of the continued support of the UK to the IGAD led peace process.

  • Dear CTSAMM, Major General Abdelkarim, Thank you very much for your leadership that you demonstrate through this period. The violation of ceasefire between parties that are conflicting need a big decision. Because it is not that you do not verify the side that violate the agreement, you might very well already have known who exactly is in much interest of violent then the other. Yes, I understand that you are working hard to monitor this conflict that it is only the government or the rebel that ignore your warning. As far as I know and understand monitoring without force will not work unless consequences are assigned into it. What you do not know is that this part of the world understand only apply force without it no consideration is taken. Please, if you want to see the real result you have to design first if a party is verified violating the agreement consequences will follow seriously. Then you have to act not only talk. You may have learned much about this people already. That is my comment because i am a part of this people I know what kind of capability they have.

  • Machar Riek is not for suffering people of Nuer. South Sudan can get RID of him,but there is no need to do so because we are not like Nuer or a part of Nuer.
