15th April 2017(Nyamilepedia) ——  Details are emerging about a covert operation gone wrong after the Director General of Internal Security Bureau of the South Sudan National Security Service Gen. Akol Koor Kuc authorized the supply of arms and ammunition and the subsequent airlifting of those arms to Murle tribesmen in Pibor, Boma State via Wau, this reporter has reliably learned.

Speaking by phone to this reporter in Juba, an eyewitness identified by his first name as Anjelo says the secret deal happened after the National Security Service apprehended some trucks that were heading to Pibor on the Juba Nile Bridge.

The trucks were loaded with purported food items for business. “But we acted on an intelligence tip-off that the trucks were carrying arms.”

After the trucks arrived to the checkpoint on the bridge, the trucks were redirected to NSS hide-out near the blue house for thorough search.

After the trucks were offloaded with countless bags of maize flour, beans, cooking oil and so many other small goods for retail shops, weapons were finally found starched underneath.

All the armament were confiscated by the National Security Service and the investigation started to ascertain the origins of the weapons.

After back and forth between the National Security Service and the Military Intelligence investigating the source of the weapon, they finally concluded the arms were from the military stores but the official who authorize the removal of weapons from stores remain a mystery.

While negotiations were continuing to have the guns return to the Military stores, Gen. Akol Koor ordered the weapons to be loaded in to a cargo plane destined for Wau in the Greater Bahr El Ghazal region.

The weapons were kept there for about two weeks and loaded once again to a cargo plane destined for Pibor town in Boma State.

One of the Division commanders of the SPLA based in Pibor town, who was contacted on this story, denied requesting for weapons from Juba and to whom the weapons were being delivered to in Pibor is a matter for the General Head Quarters of the SSPDF to answer.

A senior security officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to talk to the media on official issues says the issue of weapons delivery to Boma State government was done with the knowledge of Gen. Akol Koor Kuc with directives to Mr. Akot Lual Areec, the presidential envoy of peace in the greater Pibor Area and the former private secretary to the President of the Republic Salva Kiir Mayardit in the contact of the local population to defend themselves against hostile neighboring communities like the recent incursion of Bor Youth into their State.

“The community leadership of the Murle have complained to the national government and since the government cannot provide security, the local youths have the right to defend themselves”, he said.

Meanwhile Greater Bor community leaders have reacted angrily about the government motives to arm one tribe against others.

Speaking to this reporter, a member of Bor Youth Association in Juba says the government is arming the Murle tribe to destabilize Bor area for unknown political reasons.

The unidentified youth who is privy with the highly charged twists and turns on this story said, “we will get to the bottom of this saga, we will turn tables to know the truths behind this coward and heinous political decision by the National Security Service”.

The fall out has resulted in the arrest and detention of the former private secretary of the President, Mr. Akot Lual Arec, whom the President appointed as his special envoy for the Cobra Faction peace process which resulted in the establishment of the former Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

Mr. Akot is a close ally with the leader of Cobra Faction Gen. David Yau Yau.

Mr. Akot Lual is suspected to have played a role in the illegally removal of weapons from Military stores with support from Gen. Yau Yau when he was still the Deputy Minister of Defense.
