March 30, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— South Sudan armed group under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny has released two Indian Dar Petroleum and one Pakistani national Engineers who were captured on Thursday March 09, 2017 in Adar, Upper Nile State, when a fight broke out between South Sudan forces and South Sudan rebels.

A statement released by Machar stated that Dak Duop Bichok,  SPLM/A-IO National Committee for Energy and Mining and Chair of the Ad-hoc Committee on the case of Muthu Vijaya Boopathy (CPECC Engineer from India), Ambrose Edward (PSF Operator from India) and Ayaz Hussain Jamali (DPOC engineer from Pakistan), released the oil engineers.

In confirmation to the release of the 3 oil workers captured in Adar, Machar tweeted today saying the Dar Petroleum Engineers that were extracted from the fight in Adar are now released and they will join their families in a location of their choice.

“We wish to confirm that two Indian Dar Petroleum Engineers and Pakistani national extracted from the fight in Adar are now released. The three Engineers are currently in their nominated location of choice where they would be able to meet their families,” reads Machar’s tweet.

Family, relatives and friends of Ayaz Hussain Jamali and Pakistani civil societies appealed to Machar in a peaceful demonstration to call for Ayaz’s release; describing Machar as a good man who is committed to the struggle of his country and that they expect a safe release of Ayaz.

South Sudan survives on oil revenues but the money generated from the oil goes to toxic weapons. The United Nations warned of potential genocide in South Sudan if the world is not going to arrest the situation very quickly. Lately, President Salva Kiir was accused of ethnic cleansing through “starving tactics”, yet peaceful solution to the conflict between the two warring parties seems to be out of reach. The Agreement on the Resolution of South Sudan that was signed in August 2015 collapsed when Machar and Kiir fell out on July 8, 2016, and fighting between Kiir and Machar has been ongoing.
