March 29, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— In response to the recent and tragic killing of six aid workers in South Sudan, Peter Walsh, Save the Children’s Country Director in South Sudan, said:

“Save the Children strongly condemns the killing of six aid workers over the weekend, one of whom worked for a Save the Children-partner organisation, which provides critical child protection to vulnerable children.

“We are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragedy, and offer our deepest condolences to the aid workers’ families, relatives and friends as they cope with the devastating loss of their loved ones

“Aid workers in South Sudan work in some of the most difficult and challenging conditions on the planet, putting their lives on the line every day to provide assistance to the most vulnerable. This is the third attack on aid workers this month – and by far the deadliest – bringing the humanitarian death toll to 79 since the outbreak of violence in December 2013.

“Humanitarians are impartial and should never be targeted. Such attacks are a grave violation of international humanitarian law and perpetrators must be held to account.”
